Invermere is Gaelic for ‘at the mouth of the lake’ Invermere on the Lake’s history is recorded at the Windermere Valley Museum, including key figures such as David Thompson and mountaineer Conrad Kain, and Sir Randolph Bruce in displays and carefully preserved documents and photographs.
Invermere BC’s quaint downtown district has a relaxed atmosphere with trendy, funky, boutiques and fine restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries, gift and specialty shops, grocery stores, pharmacies, bookstore, deli, and bakery. These are complemented by a variety of restaurants and shops in the Mountain Village at Panorama, serviced by the FREE daily Mountain & Valley Shuttle between Panorama and Invermere!
The work of talented local artists is on display at the artists’ co-op, Village Arts. Nearby galleries, Artym, Effusion, and Bavin Glass Studio, showcase works by local, national and international artists. No visit to Invermere is complete without a stop at Pynelogs Cultural Centre (at Kinsmen Beach), home to the Columbia Valley Arts Council, a gift shop, a café, and a public art gallery.

Panorama Mountain Resort, one of the feature stops on the famous Powder Highway, features one of the largest alpine skiing vertical rise resorts in North American with over 4000 vertical of continuous groomed slopes, alpine glades and bowls complimented by a ‘ski in, ski out’ family focused village base area complete with shops, restaurants, free village gondola and the Panorama Springs giant outdoor hot pools! Panorama is also home to RK Heli Skiing on the edge of the famous Bugaboos, one of the largest heliski regions in the World as well as spectacular snowmobiling adventures direct from Panorama too!
