A Woman in Wildflowers: The Extraordinary Journey of “Lizzie” Rummel

May 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

A fundraiser in support of the Columbia Lake Stewardship Society.
Shirley Truscott returns to Invermere with a fabulous performance about a fabulous mountain woman. This reflective dramatic portrait recounts the extraordinary personal journey of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Rummel. “Lizzie’s” humble mountain life in the towering presence of Mount Assiniboine became in itself a beautiful work of art.
Elizabeth von Rummel was born into the aristocracy of turn- of-the-century Germany. As a girl she came to Canada to spend the summers vacationing on a ranch in the Alberta foothills. Later in life, she is best remembered for running lodges in the backcountry of the Rocky Mountains where she created an enchanting, beautiful life in the wilderness for her guests. “Lizzie” loved both the mountains and the people of Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Skoki and Assininboine. She was a true pioneer of the mountains.
“A Woman in Wildflowers” is part of Truscott’s “Mountain Woman” series of one woman plays. Last year’s performances of “Mary Schaffer, Mountain Woman” and “A Portrait of Mary Vaux” both played too sold out, mesmerized audiences.
Created and Performed by Shirley Truscott. With Elizabeth Sorochan, cello.

The Columbia Lake Stewardship Society (CLSS) mission is to act as stewards in preserving the ecological health of Columbia Lake. Our vision is that by conducting water quality and quantity measurements, recording data, disseminating information and our reports, we will communicate with and encourage others to join in our mission to preserve Columbia Lake’s pristine water resources and natural environment.
