Invermere BC, often referred to as Invermere on the Lake and Panorama Mountain Resort are situated on the edge of the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia’s Kootenay Rockies Region. The incredible area is most easily accessed from Calgary through famous Banff in Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park, or from the South via the Canadian Rockies International Airport in nearby Cranbrook, with service by Air Canada, Westjet and Pacific Coastal Airline.

The community of Invermere is the thriving commercial hub of activity for the Columbia Valley, conveniently surrounded by Radium Hot Springs, Panorama Mountain Resort and Fairmont Hot Springs and Columbia Lake to the south and a gateway to the entire Kootenay Rockies Region. A popular seasonal/vacation home destination, Invermere, together with the year-round resident base, make for an exceptionally vibrant community as a top skiing and winter destination as well as golf, mountains and the lake in the summer.

Invermere is Gaelic for ‘at the mouth of the lake’ Invermere on the Lake’s history is recorded at the Windermere Valley Museum, including key figures such as David Thompson and mountaineer Conrad Kain, and Sir Randolph Bruce in displays and carefully preserved documents and photographs.

Invermere BC’s quaint downtown district has a relaxed atmosphere with trendy, funky, boutiques and fine restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries, gift and specialty shops, grocery stores, pharmacies, bookstore, deli, and bakery. These are complemented by a variety of restaurants and shops in the village at Panorama too serviced by the Free daily Mt & Valley Shuttle between Panorama and Invermere (winter only)!

The work of talented local artists is on display at the artists’ co-op called Village Arts. Nearby galleries, Artym, Effusion, and Bavin Glass Studio, showcase works by local, national and international artists. No visit to Invermere is complete without a stop at Pynelogs Cultural Centre (at Kinsmen Beach), home to the Columbia Valley Arts Council, a gift shop, a café, and a public art gallery.

Winter events include, Canada’s only outdoor “Bonspiel-on-the-Lake”. Visitor Appreciation Day and Summerlude festival is a popular summer event featuring lake regatta and free pancake breakfast on main street! Canada Day (July 1st) is celebrated in grand style, with fireworks and outdoor fun for the whole family. The annual Hang Gliding and Paragliding Splash Landing Contest is a must-see.

The Powder Highway LogoPanorama Mountain Resort, one of the feature stops on the famous Powder Highway, features one of the largest alpine skiing vertical rise resorts in North American with over  4000 vertical of continuous groomed slopes, alpine glades and bowls complimented by a ski in ski out family focused village base area complete with shops, restaurants, free village gondola  and the Panorama Springs giant outdoor hot pools! Panorama is also home to RK Heli Skiing on the edge of the famous Bugaboos, one of the largest heliski regions in the World as well as spectacular snowmobiling adventures direct from Panorama too!
